People come to therapy for many reasons and are often seeking support and change in some area of their lives. The creation of a genuine relationship based on empathy, presence and acceptance is at the center of my approach.
As a therapist, I have been trained in Emotion-focused therapy (EFT), an empirically based approach designed to help people identify, experience, regulate, express and transform emotion. I believe therapy is a collaborative process where people can learn how to experience and use their emotions, both pleasant and unpleasant, as guiding wisdom to figure out how to get their needs met. Through the process of therapy, clients are helped to heal past wounds and transform painful emotions that promotes growth, self-understanding and self-acceptance. This ultimately helps them engage in healthier, more adaptive emotional processes, and provides the necessary strength to tackle everyday problems.
As a mediator and educator for over twenty-five years, I have extensive experience working with people experiencing separation and divorce. I believe relationships are important and when people are provided a safe environment to discuss their concerns and differences, there is the possibility to shift from defensiveness and move toward understanding and resolution.
I bring years of experience and training, life experience, curiosity and compassion to my practice. I work with individuals, couples and families.
